Humanities Abandoned Their Subject In The 1990s

Part of why people were warned away from the humanities in the 1990s and 2000s was that many places gave up the field: the humanities became weird and highly political, focused on ideological missions and activism rather than the human heart in conflict with itself, making that advice partly correct for those institutions.
