Majority voting can manufacture an illusory 'will of the group': if six prefer a gory action film and four prefer a romantic comedy, declaring the action film the group's will misrepresents preferences, so where collective action is not strictly required, such decisions should be removed from the political marketplace and decoupled in a live-and-let-live way consistent with liberty.
